The House Build part 4… windows and walls

The weather gods have been kind to the builders (if they call sub zero 7.30am starts kind) and there have been clear sunny days to progress the exterior cladding and finish the roof.  There are just a few more layers of plaster to go on the outside and then it will be ready for the painter.  The builders are now starting to focus on the inside.  The concrete hearth has been framed up and the cavity sliders have been slotted in to place.

So far we have managed to keep changes to a minimum, just a few tweaks here and there to change a window to a door and add some natural light into the hallway.

Always plenty of decisions to be made, the other day we did a walk around to decide where to place the outside taps, requires some lateral thinking and a bit of imagination trying to think ahead to when the landscaping is complete.  The time has come to finalise tile and carpet selections, choose door handles, decide on lighting and placement of light switches and confirm the paint colours inside. We have decided to call on the help of an interior designer to get through the last of the decision making to ensure we get it right.

Kevin has been inspired by a landscaping workshop we went to recently and has drawn up a plan for an outdoor area featuring a pizza oven.  Fortunately for us the landscaper who took the workshop featured in a charity auction last week so Kevin and I are now the proud owners of a landscaping package with Wild South – now that is going to be a fun day, 2 chaps and a digger to create outdoor spaces.

Here are some more photos for you to check out how the house is coming along.
